Assessment of Air Pollution Tolerance and Particulate Matter Accumulation of 11 Woody Plant Species

چکیده
High concentration of particulate matter (PM) threatens public health and the environment. Increasing traffic in city is one main factors for increased PM air. Urban green spaces play an important role reducing PM. In this study, leaf surface in-wax (sPM wPM) accumulation were compared 11 plant species widely used landscaping South Korea. addition, biochemical characteristics leaves (ascorbic acid chlorophyll content, pH, relative water content) analyzed to determine air pollution tolerance. Plant suitable quality improvement selected based on their tolerance index (APTI) anticipated performance (API). Results showed a significant difference according sPM wPM species. APTI positive correlation. Pinus strobus highest values, while Cercis chinensis lowest. plants, API was divided into five groups. densiflora classified as best group, Cornus officinalis Ligustrum obtusifolium not recommended.

Assessment of Indoor-Outdoor Particulate Matter Air Pollution: A Review
Background: Air pollution is a major global environmental risk factor. Since people spend most of their time indoors, the sole measure of outdoor concentrations is not sufficient to assess total exposure to air pollution. Therefore, the arising interest by the international community to indoor-outdoor relationships has led to the development of various techniques for the study of emission and e...
متن کاملA comparative study for air pollution tolerance index of some terrestrial plant species
Although water and land pollution are very dangerous, air pollution has its own peculiarities due to its transboundary dispersion of pollutants over the entire world. In any well planned urban set up, industrial pollution takes a back seat and vehicular emissions take precedence as the major cause of urban air pollution. In the present study, Air pollution tolerance index was calculated for var...
متن کاملAHA Scientific Statement Particulate Matter Air Pollution and Cardiovascular Disease
In 2004, the first American Heart Association scientific statement on “Air Pollution and Cardiovascular Disease” concluded that exposure to particulate matter (PM) air pollution contributes to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. In the interim, numerous studies have expanded our understanding of this association and further elucidated the physiological and molecular mechanisms involved. The...
متن کاملAssessment of Air Pollution Using Plant Material
Technological procedure of extracting metals is being constantly modernised so that polluting of the basic life resources is reduced. Emissions of waste gases and particulate matter are still present in larger mining-metallurgical complexes. Mining-metallurgical complex Bor (RTB) exploits sulphide copper ores, thus emitting acid sulphur gases and suspended particles with high content of Cu, Zn,...
متن کاملparticulate pollution mitigating ability of some plant species
foliar surface of plants is continuously exposed to the surrounding atmosphere and is, therefore, the main receptor of particulate pollutants. this physical trait can be used to determine the level of particulate pollution in the surroundings, as well as the ability of individual plant species to intercept and mitigate particulate pollutants. in the present study, leaf cuticle characters of fou...
